The ‘Battle of the skies’ between ninth-placed Bombers and the Jets (seventh) is set to take place at Waaia Recreation Reserve with both outfits needing wins after tough round five losses.
The Bombers suffered a 90-run loss to Nagambie and are winless from their past three matches after they saluted in the opening round of the season.
Opening bowler Jesse Trower (1-8) battled hard with the ball for Waaia, while teammate Jordan Cleeland top-scored with a gallant 42.
Cleeland's effort takes his season tally to 125 runs with an average of 41.67 from four innings.
The Jets were trumped by Euroa last week by four wickets and find themselves outside of the competition's top-six.
Gun bowler Joel Brett only collected one wicket in the loss, but enters tomorrow's encounter with 12 scalps and a strike-rate of 17.25 from his five matches.
Expect a fierce response from last year's finalists as they return to a ground that provided them with success at the start of the year.
The last time the two outfits squared off was in round 11 at the same venue of tomorrow's important encounter.
Northerners were the winners in that match, enjoying a dominant outright victory thanks to star performer Ryan Sidebottom (4-12).
Coincidentally, the County cricketer made an appearance in the Jets’ B-grade side last week — his first of the season — and could potentially be promoted into the Haisman Shield line-up following his 90-run knock effort in the win.
