In what will be the teams’ first two-day hit-out of the year, the Redbacks will be brimming with confidence after going 3-1 to start the season, particularly facing a Tatura side that has not won a game yet.
Tatura needs a lift in all areas, but one in the batting department would be ideal, having posted one-day totals of 72, 8-155, 129 and 131, and only being able to bat out the 45 overs once.
Captain Michael Archer leads his side's run scoring with 122 at 40.7, but he needs help, with David Miller's 57 runs the second-highest mark for the campaign.
For Kyabram, it has had no shortage of strong batsmen; captain Kyle Mueller smashed 68 not out last game, while Paul Newman is enjoying his move to Cricket Shepparton, with 128 at 32.
Mueller said his troops were ready to go and build on a promising start.
“We're refreshed after the bye and just want to stick with what we got from the one-day stuff and build on that,” he said.
“It's probably been what we'd hoped, early wins are crucial. We've had a few good bowling performances and a few good batting ones, I think we're confident in both areas and we need both to be in sync.”
Playing two-day cricket, the skipper said his batting unit had to change the approach.
“You've just got to be able to consume balls and just be happy to be able to defend,” he said.
“You have to fine with leaving the ball and making the bowlers bowl to you. That's the main focus, just not chasing things.”
The Redbacks are likely to have the services of Irish import Aaron Gillespie for the first time.
