The Bloods went down by 68 runs in the first round of the new Cricket Shepparton season, but showed plenty of positive signs with bat and ball.
Outside of Felix Odell and Brendan Crouch's 140-run opening stand for the Students, Karramomus was on top with ball in hand - while its entire top eight batsmen faced at least 10 deliveries at the crease in their first knock of the summer.
“We didn't do a great deal wrong last week,” Karramomus captain Stuart Turner said.
“Once we got the first wicke,t we got 8-80 odd pretty quickly. We bowled pretty well at the end there to restrict them.”
Tomorrow the Bloods travel to face Kyabram, with Turner searching for an early win.
“It's always good to get one early, (so hopefully we can),” he said.
“We'll just have to bowl to our plans and be pretty positive with the bat.”
Mitch McGrath and Nathan Jones are likely to come into the side for Karramomus, with the former looking to build on last season's 347 runs at 26.7 in 11 A-grade matches.
The opener passed 35 runs almost every second innings on average during the summer, but could not manage to reach 65 in any stint at the crease.
“Mitch McGrath will be in and Nathan Jones should be as well,” Turner said.
“We'll be looking for the same consistency from Mitch that he gave us lots of last year, and hopefully he can cash in a bit more and turn those 30s and 40s into big scores.”
The Redbacks defeated Northerners by seven wickets last round and will again look to Paul Newman (51) and Jackson McLay (3-11) to lead the way in each discipline.
