Old Students captain Felix Odell posted 100 at Vibert Reserve to lead his side to a 68-run victory.
It was a sublime performance from the skipper, as he blasted 15 boundaries and sent one ball flying over the rope for six.
Odell's century was his fourth in the competition and it comes off two bat-raising innings from last season.
Under overcast skies, the home side won the toss and elected to bowl.
That decision probably came back to haunt Karramomus skipper Stuart Turner after what transpired next.
Old Students openers Brendan Crouch and Odell combined for an impressive 140-run stand.
Crouch was the perfect foil for Odell, with the right-hander hitting seven boundaries to reach 43.
Evidently, it was Turner (2-26) who was able to break the matchwinning partnership, with trapping Crouch lbw.
Karramomus' Chris Crouch (1-27) then knocked over Connor Hangan for not many, but Callan McCabe walked out to the crease and posted a quick 40.
The Bloods were able to tie down Students' tail with Jason Ibbotson (2-31) grabbing a couple of late wickets as the away side finished with 8-236 from its allocated overs.
Karramomus openers Crouch (31) and Nathan Laffy (18) looked to follow the same path as their opposition counterparts as they reached 55 for no loss.
But once Laffy departed from a Hangan (1-12) peach, the Bloods then lost 4-22 in quick fashion and stubbled to be 5-77 with youngster Cooper Delahey and Luke Forge at the crease.
Nick Breslin nabbed 2-4 from his nine overs and was the pick of the Students' bowlers.
Michael Mandaradoni tried to fly the flag with a steady 39 runs off 50 deliveries, but he ran out of partners and time, with the Bloods stuck at 7-168 off 45 overs.
THE GAME
Old Students 8-236 (Fleix Odell 100, Brendan Crouch 43, Callan McCabe 40, Stuart Turner 2-26) defeated
Karramomus 7-168 (Michael Mandaradoni 39, Chris Crouch 31, Nick Breslin 2-4, Liam Callegari 3-42)
STAR PLAYER
Felix Odell (Old Students): There is no better way to start the season than with a stunning century to your name. Odell had great service from his opening partner Brendan Crouch, but the day belonged to him and his cracking 100.
