Jarrah Weston, 21, of Shepparton, pleaded guilty in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court to charges of assault and theft.
Prosecutor Senior Constable Nathan Marsh told the court Weston stole a wallet containing $1200 cash and a bank card from a plasterer’s work van while it was parked in an alleyway behind shops in King St, Shepparton, on January 31 last year.
When the tradie came out and saw Weston at his van, he yelled out, and gave chase as Weston ran off.
When he reached a fence at the end of the alley, Weston turned and threw a Dare iced coffee at the tradie, hitting him in the back of the head, before running off.
Weston and another man ran off as the victim called 000.
The other man was caught by police, and Weston was arrested 13 days later after dropping his phone at the scene.
The tradie’s cash was returned to him.
In court, Weston was fined $400.
