Tallygaroopna moved into eighth spot on the ladder with a 19-goal victory over Undera at home on Saturday afternoon.
Tally won the match 46-27 on a day of celebration for the club as veteran Kylie Merigan played her 550th game for the club.
Merigan started with Tallygaroopna back in 1988 and during her time at the club she has won six premierships, five best-and-fairest awards and now sits second in all-time games for Tally.
For Undera, it may have been the Lions’ fourth consecutive loss, but coach Amy Marshall said she was happy with how her side performed defensively, especially given the team’s injury problems and focus on blooding youth in 2024.
“I was actually really pleased with the game,” Marshall said.
“Despite the scoreline defensively, I think we put out a really good showing, and we are actually missing four of our A-graders due to injury at the moment, so it has been an opportunity for a couple of the B-graders to come up, and they put on a really good show.
“We are a young group and I think we struggled to exercise a bit of patience sometimes and that is probably something we will work on over the next few weeks.
“We will keep working on our defensive effort.”
As Undera continues to build a base for future success by giving experience to its talented youth, Marshall can’t help but admire the green shoots that are already emerging.
“Everybody at different times has really shone and showed us what they are made of,” she said.
“Defensively, we have got Alex Phillips, who is not 18 yet; she is only 17, and she has actually been killing it.
“Her last two weeks have probably been her strongest and she has been matching up in goal keeper against some really strong opponents and she has been holding her own.
“It will be an interesting game against Stanhope if we get some of our players back.”
Around the courts in other Kyabram District Netball League games, Girgarre has monstered Rushworth away from home, winning the match by 68 goals.
Violet Town has continued its unbeaten streak by defeating Merrigum 49-33.
In Sunday’s matches, Shepparton East outlasted Dookie United in a tight affair, claiming the win 53-46 at home.
Meanwhile, Lancaster defeated Nagambie in a high-scoring match, with the score finishing 55-60 in the Wombats’ favour.
Next Saturday, the rest of the round four matches will be played out, with Stanhope hosting Avenel and Murchison-Toolamba playing Longwood.
