The game of the round belonged to the Suns’ under-14s, who came from behind on a number of occasions to prevail in an 11-goal barnburner.
An early lead had the hosts flying before they shipped four goals without reply, engaging panic stations at McEwen Reserve.
However, a second-half red card for Moreland flipped the script, with Goulburn Valley’s best and brightest stepping up to claim a thrilling 6-5 win.
Everything Aston Monteleone touched turned to gold, with the youngster scoring a magnificent hat-trick to drag his side out of danger, while Lucas Cirillo’s double and a goal to Rohollah Mosavi completed the win.
In the later fixture, under-16 magician Hassan Al-Hilfi showed his pedigree with a brace to topple Moreland 4-2.
Earlier goals to Suns Aiden Resul and Alban Sherolli had the scores level at the break, before Al-Hilfi turned up the heat.
Slotting directly after the restart to grant his side an advantage, the midfield wizard then popped up with the Suns’ fourth in the 73rd minute to kill the game off.
Despite a valiant comeback attempt, the under-15s fell in yet another high-scoring affair.
Prabhjot Singh’s finish on the half-hour mark pulled the Suns back into the contest after conceding two previously, but Moreland’s goal from kick off had the scores reading 3-1 at half-time.
Muhammed Alizada rippled the net twice in 10 minutes to bring the hosts level, but Moreland would have the last laugh, scoring with 20 minutes remaining to sink the Suns 4-3.
Lastly, the eldest of the young Suns contingent recorded its first point of the season after playing out a goalless draw.
Neither side was able to carve out a winner in the under-17 bout as both defences remained robust for the 90 minutes.
