Echuca all-rounder Grace Moyle earned her second straight selection and a place in Victoria Country’s under-16 squad after another barnstorming season with bat and ball that saw her earn a Premier League 1st XI debut with Carlton.
Young gun Archer Carlile earned his maiden selection in the under-17 program, following a season where he debuted for Echuca’s A-grade outfit and took part in Melbourne Cricket Club’s Dowling Shield campaign.
One of his Melbourne teammates in that campaign, Echuca A-grade premiership wicket-keeper/batter Kobyn James, joined Grace in earning a second straight selection in the state talent pathway after some promising form, this time graduating to the under-18 category.
Further afield, Nondies-Cohuna A-grade fast bowler Xavier Wishart looks set to join Carlile in the under-17 program following a season where he established himself as one of the premier young pace aces.
Grace said it was good to return for another season.
“It’s always nice to be invited back,” she said.
“We’ll train most Saturdays and then in September we have a couple of trial matches. From there, they’ll cut the team down for nationals.
“I’ve had a few mates I’ve been doing (the program) with since under-12s, so it’s been good to keep going up with them.”
The program, drawing on up-and-coming cricketing stars from all parts of Victoria, will provide expert tuition from specialist coaches on technique, strength and conditioning before both metro and country squads take part in the national championships in January.
