Winter pennant
Sign-up sheets are on the pro shop window for the Scratch and Handicap Singles teams for the season starting in April. Try-outs will be held on Sunday, April 7 at 1.30pm and Sunday, April 14 at 1.30pm.
Albatross
Kobe Atkinson at 14 years old achieved an impressive feat last Friday when he had an albatross on the par five 6th West hole.
It is estimated the odds of having an albatross are six million to one, so when Kobe’s second shot on the par five found the bottom of the cup it was celebrated quite loudly by the group!
Kobe is one of many youngsters who are quickly improving and enjoying their golf at Rich River.
Lockington Golf Club
The 2024 golf season at Lockington will kick off with a four-person ambrose event (any combination) on Saturday, April 6. Hit-off is from 11am-12pm, and social golfers are welcome.

With one irrigation completed, there’s an encouraging tinge of green emerging on the fairways.
Thanks to all the workers for their efforts in preparing the course and tidying up the fallen trees and limbs around the course.
There’s also been some great work done in pruning the tree-line between the 6th and 12th fairways.
Office bearers for the 2024 season are: President – Trav Mancer; Captain – Grant Humbert; Treasurer – Andrew Glatte; Secretary – Darren Carnie; Handicapper – Grant Humbert.
Jenny Holt has taken on the Ladies’ president role, ably supported by the team of Pauline Humbert (captain), Sue Harris (secretary/treasurer) and Annette Brereton (handicapper).
Rochester Golf Club
Reminder: RGC official opening day is scheduled for Saturday, March 30, in the format of a two-person Ambrose (any combination).
Assembly by 11.30am with hitting off at noon.
Visitors are most welcome.
Members are asked to bring a plate.
The course is in excellent condition after ongoing watering and continued mowing over the past few weeks.
Visitors and those members who haven't played since last season will be in for a pleasant surprise to witness the shape of those fairways after the removal of more than 70 mature pine trees.
A good field of 15 players played stableford on the front nine last Wednesday.
After a three-way countback, Chris Eeles played his first game for this year and won the day from Gary Charnas and Kevin McCormack, all on 19 points.
Once again there was no one closest-to-the-pin on the third hole. Next week assembly is at 9am for 9.30am hit-off.
The last round of the Central Vic Golf pennant was played recently at Belvoir Park, where we were up against Bendigo Blue, unfortunately losing 1-1/2 to 3-1/2.
Winner was Laurie Radley 4/2, while Lachie Wilson was all square.
Andrew Purdy, Brendan McCarty and Des Gallagher were all defeated.
Thanks to all the players who made themselves available to represent the club over the summer pennant season.
