‘‘We’ll work on our fitness and help our key position players reach toward that goal,’’ Knight said.
Chris Marshall is the returning seniors coach after leading Jerilderie into fifth place at the close of the general fixture last year.
The cancelled premiership rounds, however, robbed the Demons of their chance to take it all.
Knight hopes the season will remain uninterrupted to give his club a fighting chance.
‘‘COVID is always in the back of our minds — we are concerned some players may not be able to play if they have to isolate, so we might have issues through the year, but hopefully that won’t happen,’’ he said.
‘‘But down the track we hope to have a good result which includes all grades.’’
Junior development and mental health is also on the club’s mind.
A number of under-14s will be taking part in the Giants Academy training sessions this season, to provide ‘‘a bit of progression towards the club’s future’’.
He hopes the move will benefit the club, which has lost a couple of the younger names on its senior list from 2021.
‘‘We’ve got a similar list to last year — minus three or four,’’ Knight said, with one recruit returning after a period away from Jerilderie.
With a fairly extensive list of Demons stalwarts remaining at the club, Knight says there are no significant signings on the horizon.
Sports and Life Training (SALT) sessions are also being held across the region including at Jerilderie, to establish players’ connection to the way their physical and mental health intersect.
The Dees will visit Blighty to play the Redeyes in round one of the season.
