A loaded handgun and ammunition were allegedly found at the home of a Shepparton man who was prohibited from possessing firearms.
Police said they found a loaded gun and firearms parts including a rifle scope, firearm stock and ammunition magazine in an unsecured bag at a Shepparton property.
Police had gone to the house to conduct a Firearms Prohibition Order search on Tuesday, June 16.
A 46-year-old Shepparton man has been charged with possessing a firearm in contravention of a prohibition order, possessing a firearm-related item in contravention of a prohibition order, possessing cartridge ammunition, possessing a prohibited weapon, handling stolen goods and negligently deal with the proceeds of crime.
He has been remanded in custody to appear in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court in August.
