Tallygaroopna Men's Shed president Ian Waite said the $2000 grant would be used to make bird nesting boxes for fire-affected areas.
“A lot of trees were burnt down where birds were nesting, so they've got nowhere to nest,” Mr Waite said.
“It gives us something to do ... it's good mentally to do something good for the community.”
Mr Waite said they aimed to make 60 to 70 bird nesting boxes with the funds.
Victoria will be the biggest benefactor of Australia Post’s 2026 People of Post grant program.
The grants aim to support organisations that are addressing social challenges such as mental health, disaster resilience, literacy and the environment.
Australia Post general manager of community and stakeholder engagement Nicky Tracey said the program allowed Australia Post team members to back local organisations that were making a difference.
“This year, the People of Post program is supporting more community initiatives than ever before,” Ms Tracey said.
“Our team members see firsthand the challenges facing their local community every day, particularly in regional Australia, where access to mental health support can be limited.”
