The performance will include a live reading of the book by storyteller Janet McLeod and musical accompaniment that brings the action of the book to life and interactive elements for the audience to participate in.
Little Puggle’s Song is a heart-warming story about a young echidna, Puggle, who wants to join the bush choir.
However, every time he tries to sing, nothing comes out.
Set to the sounds of woodwind, string and percussion instruments, this new work is by composer Maria Grenfell and promises to bring the book to life.
“Hosting Orchestra Victoria in Tatura is something the Shepparton Festival is very proud to be doing for one of our smaller towns, as well as for our wonderful smaller people,” Shepparton Festival director Kristen Retallick said.
“The orchestra’s interpretation of Little Puggle’s Song will be a fun, engaging way to enjoy an Australian children’s book reading via music.”
This musical experience is best suited for children aged five to eight, but all are welcome.
The performance is free, but tickets are required.
