Event co-director Sam North welcomed all participants, and emphasized the community that has formed around parkrun in Deniliquin.
“parkrun is for everyone,” he said.
“The average time for our 5km course is 38 minutes, which means that as well as having some very quick runners, we also have many walkers who are much slower.
“parkrun is for all abilities.
“We also have approximately 100 volunteers, who roster themselves on to make sure our event occurs every week of the year.”
Saturday’s milestone event was followed by a free breakfast for all participants, volunteers and spectators.
McLean Beach parkrun is held every Saturday morning and new participants are always welcome.
It starts from the walking track at the end of the dirt road at McLean’s Beach, with participants asked to arrive by 7.50am.
Newcomers should pre-register for free to get their membership code by going to www.parkrun.com.au. You code is scanned each week so you can track your performance.
