Counterpart is partnering with Goulburn Valley Health to organise the free event, following the success of a similar event in Shepparton last year.
Mooroopna local Catherine Meredith attended last year’s event, and said last year’s event was great.
“To meet and interact with others who are going or have been through a similar journey helps relieve the feeling of isolation that can occur. It gave a sense of community, that you are not alone in this,” she said.
The wellbeing day will take place at the Shepparton Senior Citizens Centre on June 5 from 10am to 2.45pm and will consist of two interactive sessions, one creative and one qigong, as well as an informative session on cancer and nutrition.
“The speakers at the last event were informative, and the interactive sessions relaxing and thought-provoking,” Mrs Meredith said.
“I would really encourage other women to attend and enjoy the day.”
Counterpart manager Cindy Van Rooy said her team was looking forward to partnering with GV Health again for another successful event.
“Our service provides peer support and information to women with cancer who are living across Victoria,” she said.
“The women we support often tell us that living in regional areas makes it harder to find support.
“That’s why we are so pleased to have been funded by the Victorian Government to make regional wellbeing days a core part of our service.”
The Shepparton Wellbeing Day is free for women who have had any type of cancer and their partners, family or friends.
