Anzac Day commemorations started early in Deniliquin this year.

With the day falling in the NSW school holidays, Deniliquin North School organised an early ceremony at the school.
Inviting Deniliquin RSL Sub-branch, Deniliquin Legacy and other special guests to be involved in the day, the student-led service was hosted on the final day on term one.
The outdoor ceremony was organised by Miss Jess Harris and presented by school captains Harvey Campbell and Stella Chadderton.
Among the guest speakers was Phil Stone, who served overseas with the Australian Army in the 1990s.
Claire Wing sounded The Last Post and Reveille.
Mr Stone gave an interesting and different presentation where he asked the students questions about Anzac Day and spoke of his war experience.
He then led an open discussion, with students taking the opportunity to ask him questions.
The school said they were all very interested and keen to be involved.
Michael Benger and Henry Campion presented Richard Davies and Noel Porter with a cheque for Legacy.
The school held a 'wear red, white or blue for Legacy' casual day with a gold coin donation a few days prior, with $228.85 raised.
Other students were also called on to present readings, the Year 3 to 6 students performed Spirit of the ANZACs with singing accompanied by percussion instruments and Dimity McKie and Lilly Walker laid a wreath at the base of the flag pole.
As always, North School teacher and Edward River Concert Band member Claire Wing delivered a perfect The Last Post and Reveille.
George Bull was among the students who presented readings.
