The land, which has remained vacant for several years between Mustafa’s Kebabs Drive Thru and the Shepparton Baptist Church, was sold on June 30, 2022.
The new development, approved by 7-Eleven Australia, is expected to open in early 2026, expanding access to food, fuel and everyday essentials for Shepparton residents.
The company says the high-visibility site is passed by more than 25,000 vehicles daily, making it a strategic addition to 7-Eleven’s regional Victorian network.
A spokesperson said 7-Eleven was “excited to continue supporting the growing Shepparton community”.
Previous proposals for a store on Meaklim St proved more complex, with the site straddling residential and commercial zones.
Plans required council and regulatory approval to consolidate two blocks — one zoned residential and one commercial — into a 2021 sq m lot.
The proposed Meaklim St development would have seen a shopfront demolished and a residential property at 573 Wilmot Rd removed, raising concerns due to its proximity to homes on three sides.
By contrast, the Wyndham St site is commercially zoned and presents a simpler, less disruptive path to construction, with minimal impact on surrounding residents.
Further details about job opportunities, construction timelines and the store’s official opening are expected to be announced soon.
