The culmination of a two year project, the Deniliquin and District Health Services Information Guide was released on Friday.
The 76-page guide was developed by the Deniliquin Local Health Advisory Committee with significant support from the Deniliquin Pastoral Times.
Thanks to funding from Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network, Murrumbidgee Local Health District and Deniliquin Mental Health Awareness Group, 3000 copies are available for free within the community.
They can be collected from Deniliquin Hospital, both Deniliquin pharmacies, the Edward River Library and the Deniliquin Pastoral Times office.
It may be available from other locations in coming weeks.
Deniliquin LHAC chair Lynda Barclay said the guide provides a comprehensive list of all services and organisations aimed at improving health outcomes.
“It is a one-stop shop for health information,” she said.
“It’s not just a list of who you can contact, but how to approach a particular service as well.
“It demonstrates that there is a whole range of services right here in our community, while also providing the most recent information about visiting specialist services and how to access services that may not be available in our local area too.”
Mrs Barclay said the guide arms people with the information they need to take their health into their own hands.
But another aim is to encourage more people to seek health support.
“We hope that with this guide, people are more likely to take action if they know where to go.”
