Dookie was the hardest hit in the Goulburn Valley, with 190 customers left without power.
According to the Powercor website, 87 customers also had their power cut in Shepparton East, 75 at Pine Lodge, 42 at Cosgrove, 28 at Karramomus, 21 at Mount Major, and 20 at both Kialla East and Yabba South.
Thirteen customers lost power at Caniambo, 11 at Stewarton, nine at Miepoll, eight at Dookie College and at Katandra, seven at St James, six at Arcadia, and three at Cosgrove South.
Power is expected to be back on in these communities between 5.30pm and 6.30pm.
The Powercor spokesperson said most of the outages came from lightning strikes from a storm that passed over the region during the afternoon.
The Campaspe Shire was also heavily hit, with about 570 homes in an area bounded by Echuca, Elmore and Torrumbarry also left without power, according to the Powercor spokesperson.
A further 570 homes in an area bounded by Echuca, Elmore and Torrumbarry also do not have power.
People wanting to know an estimate of when power will be returned to their home can check the outages on the Powercor website at powercor.com.au.
They can also call 132 412 to find out when their home in particular is expected to have power again.
