After 18 months of no action, the start to the game was frantic, but the Tigers settled first and piled on 14 goals to five in the opening term.
Superb rebounding and stingy defence allowed Rochester to build its margin, but Kyabram fought hard to cause turnovers.
Some fresh legs injected life into the Tigers in the second half as they powered on to clinch the four points in the 48-26 win.
Following the match, Rochester coach Linda Rasmussen said the winning result was a fantastic way to start the season.
“It was probably what we expected,” she said.
“We were really excited to see what the girls could put out on the court and they came out firing which is good.
“We have lots of combinations which we got to try and I was really proud of the girls and their effort out here today.”
Stand-outs for the winners were Maddy Egglestone and Kasey Conder.
“Maddy in defence was sensational. She was tough all game and rebounded really well,” Rasmussen said.
“And another young gun that has come up from the under 17s this year Kasey Conder.
“She was strong and she was one of our best on court as well.”
Another win on court for the Tigerettes was the successful return of Morgan Dingwell and Bridgette Holt who are back this year after ACL injuries.
“It was good to have them back out there,” Rasmussen said.
Rochester will travel to face reigning premier Seymour this Saturday, though the Tigerettes will be keen to make a statement after the Lions fell in its opening game against Echuca.
