The club is looking to have the crowds back in force for the club’s best attended meeting of the year.
Club secretary Hope Gamble said all the off-track attractions to cater for all age groups would again feature at the meeting, the only harness racing meeting in Victoria on New Year’s Day.
‘‘We would like to see the big crowds back again and there is a prize-money boost for some races,’’ Mrs Gamble said.
Among the 10 races, six have capacity drawn fields of 10 starters so racing is sure to be keen with some value there for punters.
Feature events on the 10-event card will be the Moama Bowling Club New Year’s Cup and the Frank and Carmel Ryan Memorial Pace with both events carrying prize-money of $10,000.
The Frank and Carmel Ryan Memorial Pace has drawn a full field of 10 runners with an emergency two runners; Brackenreid and Ima Shadow are last-start winners, while Allshookup and The Last Chance saluted two starts ago.
The Moama Bowling Club New Year’s Cup has drawn a field of eight talented pacers, including the well-drawn Duke of Dundee which has won three of his past four starts and local hope Ajay Breezy Rose, a winner at Bendigo on Christmas Eve.
The first event will start at 6.32pm with the final event at 11.12pm with gates open from 5pm.
