Benalla’s Hookin2Hockey was a hive of activity on Thursday, February 29, hosting a come-and-try night for primary school kids.
Fifty budding hockey players were led by 10 junior players in games that taught everyone how to dribble the ball safely.
The Prep to Year 2s played ‘what’s the time, Mr Hockey?’ and ‘rob the nest’, where Erin, Sophie, Luci and Annie successfully balanced the ball on their hooks.
The Year 3s and 4s learned how to stop the ball with ‘traffic lights’ and ‘hoctopus’ led by Amber and Zander.
The Year 5s and 6s zoomed around with ‘hoctopus’ and ‘number hockey’. Angus, Jack, Pavneet and Alida had a great time, with the 2023 under-12s leading by example.
Kids are welcome to join in any Thursday from 4.15pm to 5.15pm, with the first three weeks free to ‘come and try’, and equipment available to borrow.
