A juggernaut on the field this season, the Tigers went through the first 12 rounds without losing a game, secured the minor premiership and came agonisingly close to a grand final win.
“I’m obviously very disappointed with the outcome, but credit to us for getting ourselves in that position,” Cobram rising star Harry Beasley said in the wake of the result.
“We started the season really well which was great, then we had a few injuries, but to come back and get ourselves in a position in a grand final like that, it’s just a credit to the group.”
A young side, Beasley explained that the group was good to be around this year, with the rising talents using older players to learn.
“We’ll take away a lot from this, it will be good for us,” he said.
“We’ll use it as motivation, really build and put our best foot forward.
“It was great, a good year and really happy with it, I haven’t really thought to much about next year, I’m sure we’ll all get together and have a good think about what we want to do.
“I’m sure losing lights a bit of a fire, so we’ll see what happens.”
The son of 1998 Cobram premiership captain Peter Beasley, Beasley said playing in the grand final alongside his brother Sam was a big moment.
“It’s huge for the family, everyone is pretty proud,” he said.
“Just for all of us to be out there on the day, it’s a great feeling and obviously its very disappointing not to come away with the win, but it’s good to be out there, everyone wants to play in a grand final.”
