The women faced Shepparton Youth Club, being favoured to win against the bottom-placed outfit as they attempted to lock up second on the ladder.
Echuca-Moama came away with a strong 5-0 win, and is now nine points clear of third-placed Shepparton Strikers with three games to play.
The Strikers earned a shock result in action elsewhere, handing league leader Mooroopna its first loss of 2026, meaning the River Rats can still mathematically finish top.
But that would require the unlikely scenario of Mooroopna losing all three of its remaining matches, while Echuca-Moama would need to be perfect from here on out.
The women are almost certain to finish second and the Strikers in third, and the two have a fixture at Shepparton Regional Hockey Complex on the horizon in round 13.
Meanwhile, the men also had a dominant victory, defeating Goulburn Valley Grammar School 4-0 for their second win across their past three matches.
Echuca-Moama now has a 2-3-5 record on the season and has improved significantly of late, picking up seven points from its past five matches after earning only two from its first five.
With two games to play, the fifth-placed River Rats can still scrape into the finals by catching Shepparton Strikers Blue in fourth.
Though they likely need to win both matches, given they are four points adrift, starting with a meeting against Mooroopna in round 13.
In the juniors, the under-13s made it three wins for Echuca-Moama in the round by beating Benalla Hockey Club 6-2, while the under-16s struggled again in a 4-0 loss to the combined Benalla/Shepparton Youth Club outfit.
Elsewhere in hockey, the Castlemaine side made up of Echuca-Moama players in Hockey Central Victoria did not play last weekend, returning to action on Sunday, August 16 against Eaglehawk.
