The Echuca Moama Triathlon Club has added two new life members to its ranks at the club’s presentation night held on Friday, April 19, at Moama RSL.

Shane Kervin and Steven Loader were both recognised for their significant contributions to the club over many years.
Kervin joined the Echuca Moama Triathlon Club in 2008, stepping into a leadership role when he became race director for the clubs multisport weekend in 2021 and 2022.
His efforts in the role saw him awarded EMTC’s best clubman award in 2022 and he was recognised as club volunteer of the year by Triathlon Victoria for the 2021-22 season.
“(Shane) was our multisport race director for two years, which were our most challenging years through COVID-19, and he did that very successfully,” said EMTC Club secretary Sarah Mulkearns.
“Just an all-round efficient operator, great guy within the community as a whole.
“Just a fantastic person to have within the club and participating in triathlon as well.”

Steven Loader was also awarded life membership at this year's presentation, having previously served on the club’s committee for a decade.
Loader was club vice-president from 2012 to 2014 before stepping into the president position where he served from 2015 to 2022.
According to the club, it thrived under Loader’s leadership, thanks to his ingenuity and dedication to the role.
His efforts saw him awarded best clubman in 2018, the club noting he would step into any role required during his time, including as an MC and race caller.
“(Steven’s) been with the club since 2011 as a member and then worked his way through up to president and is still a very significant part of the club as a member and is still participating in triathlons as well,” said Mulkearns.
There were a number of other major awards handed out at the presentation.
Mulkearns and Troy Bauerle were officially recognised for their win at the club championships in March.
The Splash and Dash (a season long point scoring event) winners were unveiled with the event ending in a tie between Ray Hulands and Chirs Lee.
Matt Sullivan was this 2024’s clubman of the year.
“We had another successful season and our Presentation Night is a fantastic way to acknowledge the efforts of all those involved,” said Mulkearns
“The club continues to be proud to offer not only our weekly splash and dash events for our members and the community, but also organise and run successful community events including the Sweat vs Steam Run Event and Echuca Moama Multisports Festival.”
The season is now officially concluded for EMTC with the new events, including the club’s point score Splash and Dash series, to begin in October.
The Sweat vs Steam run event will take place on October 6, while the club’s multisport weekend will have its 26th iteration on January 18-19.
