Tatura-Hill Top pulled off the upset of the Goulburn Valley Playing Area division two season, prevailing in an 18-97 to 0-76 boilover against Shepparton Golf at Hill Top Bowling Club.

Coming into this clash firmly entrenched on to bottom of the table, not even the staunchest of Bulldogs supporters would have thought their side was any chance of knocking off the undefeated Golf juggernaut.

But an even contribution among all 16 bowlers had the home side believing early in the piece, as it continued its early momentum to sweep the rinks and come away with the incredible victory.
The performance of Paul Newman’s squad in rink one was particularly impressive, setting the tone with a clinical 25-16 win to put the wheels in motion for the upset.

The remaining three rinks were all decided by less than five shots, with the Tatura teams taking it right up to their highly fancied Golf counterparts and saluting to kick off a night of celebration after the Bulldogs’ Alan Matheson Shield side also claimed an incredible upset win over Kyabram.
Kyabram solidified its position in the top four, accounting for Mooroopna Golf 14-96 to 4-77 in what shaped up to be a season-defining clash.
Splitting the rinks at two apiece, Darren Boswood made sure the Bombers came away with the victory, inspiring an incredible 32-9 win in rink three.

He was given great support by Peter O’Brien’s squad in rink four, which saluted 30-14 to keep any chance of a late Mooroopna Golf comeback at bay.
East Shepparton enjoyed a strong 16-101 to 2-74 win to maintain its spot in second, while Mooroopna came away with a much-needed 16-115 to 2-74 victory over Rushworth.
•Division three action had Mooroopna survive a scare from cellar-dweller East Shepparton to come away with a 14-97 to 4-86 win on its home green.
Splitting the rinks at two apiece, Arthur Winston-Smith (32-13) and Noel Haden (32-20) were the catalysts behind the win with dominant performances in rinks one and three.

Mick Italia’s rink four squad was exceptional for East Shepparton, coming away with a 29-17 triumph, but it would not be enough to reel in the hefty deficit as Mooroopna saluted for an 11-shot win.
Seymour continued its reign of dominance with a crushing 18-150 to 0-67 win over Shepparton Golf.
A performance that reminded the competition it is the team to beat, the Seymour bowlers were ruthless from beginning to end, sweeping all four rinks in grand fashion with only one decided by less than 20 shots.

Shepparton Park enjoyed a clinical 18-108 to 0-76 win over Tallygaroopna, while Stanhope rounded out the winners’ list with a 14-103 to 4-93 victory against Avenel.

Nardo Di Petta was the star for the Bombers, inspiring a pivotal 31-14 triumph in rink four after Park grabbed the momentum courtesy of a dominant 32-12 win by Jim Shanahan’s squad in rink three.
Nagambie handed ladder-leader Seymour VRI its first loss of the season, prevailing 15-96 to 3-82 in a thrilling top-of-the-table clash.

An incredibly close match throughout the day, the difference would come out of rink two, where Mark Brack’s squad came away with a critical 35-22 victory to give his side the crucial breathing room it needed to win the match.
Seymour and Euroa were the other winners in division four.

•Division five had Murchison, Mooroopna Golf, Merrigum and East Shepparton come away with victories, while in division six, Kyabram, Colbinabbin, Shepparton Park 1 and Euroa prevailed in the north competition and Eildon 1, Seymour and Eildon 2 were victorious in the south.
