Second placed Waaia overcame a late Kyabram bowling charge to take all the points home in a low scoring affair.
The Redbacks, playing at home, were all out for 77 after some good bowling from the visitors.
Connor Brown took 4-20, Mark Meyland 4-28 and Mitch Cleeland continued his fine form picking up 2-9.
The visitors looked to be in the box seat for the game, however it ended up going down to the wire.
A great spell from Kyabram’s Darin Ohlsen of 3-7 and efficient bowling from Jackson McLay, 2-20 off nine, piled the pressure on Waaia.
Yet the visitors managed the hold on, running out three wicket winners.
Waaia coach, Stuart Revell, said both sides bowled well on what looked to be a terrific wicket.
“Obviously, it was a terrific game of cricket, it went down to the wire and we’re happy with the points,” Revell said.
“We all know small targets are hard to chase.”
Waaia captain Brayden Carey was one of a couple of outs for the weekends clash, with Revell identifying how hard it has been to keep the strongest starting 11 on the field.
“The hardest thing all year has been making sure our strongest 11 is on the ground,” he said.
He said with COVID-19, post lock down weddings and other events people had lots of additional commitments.
With the season coming close to an end, Revell said his side was hoping to lock in a top two spot, with a double chance and potential of a home final something to play for.
“I’m very proud of how we have played throughout this year,” he said.
The win sees Waaia remain undefeated in second place, seven points behind first placed Central Park-St Brendan’s and 16 points above third.
