The Bears gun has been consistently performing at the peak of his powers across Shepparton’s four Goulburn Valley League games in June, which saw the maroon and gold go comfortably unbeaten.
Across every line of statistic in those four appearances, you can find McShane at the pointy end.
Averaging a touch under 37 disposals and two goals per game, McShane’s form in the first month of winter has the Bears shaping up nicely ahead of the back half of the year.
Including a match against Tatura that saw McShane tally a surplus of 200 ranking points, the two-way runner has been carving up the field on both ends - averaging 5.3 tackles and 4.1 intercept possessions, and 10.3 marks and 9.3 score involvements.
But McShane’s form far extends beyond the cooler month, with McShane notching seven features in the best already this season, all coming consecutively between rounds five and 11.
Shepparton co-coach Jason Wells stated a dedicated pre-season has allowed McShane to seamlessly fit into the Bears mix after a delayed start to his year beginning in round three.
“He put in a big pre-season to get himself fit enough for a midfield role and it’s evident by his output now,” Wells said.
“Late last year he got an opportunity to roll through the middle when he had a few out, and he’s been efficient in there.
“What we love is his ability to win his own footy, and he can hit the scoreboard when he rolls up forward too.
“It’s very exciting given he’s only 24, 25.”
Named in the Goulburn Valley League interleague squad, it won’t just be the Bears hoping his form continues in July.
Should McShane warrant interleague selection for July 11 fixture, Wells believes it will be an opportunity for the Bears star to showcase his skill set.
“It will be an opportunity that is really good for his development,” he said.
“Interleague opportunities can often be a chance to display what you’ve got and attract VFL interest and potentially begin that pathway - we all know the stories of mature-aged recruits these days, so it’s a real good chance.”
