A police officer at the scene said it appeared the fire had started in wiring in the roof of the house.
He said the main part of the house was not damaged much, but there was a hole in the wall where firefighters had to access the roof cavity.
Firefighters inside the house were wearing breathing apparatus, and two plastic bags of what appeared to be insulation were brought out of the house and put on the front lawn.
