Only a few weeks into the new year and the Goulburn Valley Suns have already ramped up preparations ahead of the 2022 NPL2 season.

The Suns, fresh off announcing Irish recruits, have been busy tackling pre-season friendlies.

Last weekend the outfit played host to NPL powerhouse Hume City at McEwen Reserve, Shepparton.

The action kicked off with a senior game at noon, which was followed by an under-21 hit-out.

In hot conditions, Hume City walked away with a 3-0 victory in the senior fixture and a tense 2-1 triumph in the later match.

Suns youngster Hassan Alhilfi worked his magic and found the back of the net with a classy strike in the under-21 contest.
