It was another big weekend of action for the region’s Central Victorian League sides, with plenty of goals scored around the grounds.

In the League One Men’s competition, Tatura secured a massive 16-0 win over Golden City.
The Sunday afternoon contest at Tatura’s Howley Oval was the home sides to lose from the start, with Cody Sellwood opening the scoring just five minutes into his return from injury.
Sellwood managed two goals for the day and the talent was joined by a raft of teammates on the score sheet.
Fraser Gosstray scored five goals, Zac Ferlauto three and Jude Crichton managed two, while Gerald Corbo, Tim Lardner, Aaron Niglia and coach Tristan Zito all kicked one each.
Zito said the Ibises were on top all day.
“They (Golden City) forfeited the reserves during the week, I assume they had a fair few players missing so it was a different game to the first time we played them,” Zito said.
With the ladder leading Shepparton South having a superior goal difference, the result etches Tatura ever closer to the pinnacle.
However, with just three games to go, Zito said the sides’ attention was turning to the finals.
“We’ve got three quite difficult games to end with so we’ll be hoping to win all three of them and then hopefully push on to finals and be ready to go when we hopefully come up against South again,” he said.
South was once again on the winners list over the weekend, downing Eaglehawk 4-1 on Saturday night at McEwen Reserve.
The home side was in control for much of the contest, with Joel Aitken scoring a brace and Will Keenan and Craig Carley scoring one each to help the side over the line.
Elsewhere, Shepparton United suffered a 5-3 away defeat to Spring Gully.
United found the back of the net three times on the day, with Mustafa Abbasi, Mohammad Reza Baqiri and Benjamin Degraft-Hayford all on the score sheet, however it simply was not enough to get the win.
Meanwhile in the League Two Men’s Cup, a Lonema Mark goal proved merely consultation as the Shepparton Jaguars went down to Swan Hill 2-1.
In the League One Women’s competition Shepparton United was held to a 1-1 draw against Strathdale.
A first half Maria Villani goal had United leading for much of the game, however an 86th minute penalty to Strathdale saw the match end level.
While the Shepparton side suffered late heartbreak, it was smooth sailing for Tatura in the League Two Women’s.
The Ibises moved back into outright first on the table after a big 7-0 home win against Castlemaine Goldfields.
Tatura coach Damien Rosella said they knew it would be a tough game if they did not put their minds to it.
“Last time we played them it was only a 1-0 win so we knew it was going to be tough, but the girls just stuck to our game plan and we ended up getting a great win,” Rosella said.
“It was just a great team win, everyone played great and at the end of the day it was a well deserved win.”
The result leaves Tatura one win away from securing the league title and with a League Two Women’s Cup Final next weekend it is set to be an exciting few weeks for the side.
