Despite pre-match injuries to Sean Pye and Darcy Pawlik, the Suns shone bright early, with Matthew Breeze putting the visitors a goal up in the 13th minute.
This lead lasted until a 31st-minute Langwarrin equaliser, which saw the teams go into half time at one apiece.
Not long after the break, the home side put itself a goal ahead, and despite plenty of positive play the Suns could not find an equaliser, with a stoppage-time Langwarrin goal adding to the margin.
Suns coach Lee Blackburn said despite losing two starters pre-game, the boys that stepped in were ready to go.
“The game started, it went well, the game plan was executed and we got an early goal, which is what we were looking for,” Blackburn said.
“Obviously we’ve conceded a couple in a couple of moments of lack of concentration, but we performed really well for the last 20 minutes or so in their half attacking, which is a position we haven’t found ourselves very often.”
Blackburn made note of Stefan Pigatto’s performance, with the under-21 captain stepping up for his first senior start.
“I was really impressed with how he handled himself, carried himself and how hard he worked,” Blackburn said.
“That was a real good moment for the club; seeing someone who has worked so hard and come all the way through get his first start and then not look out of place was really pleasing.”
The Suns will take plenty of positives out of Saturday’s contest, and with just two regular season fixtures to go until the relegation play-off, the business end of the season is near.
