Piastri - who has strong family ties to Shepparton - occupies second spot on the Formula 2 Championship standings after a sizzling outing last weekend.
The 20-year-old clinched two podium finishes in the second round of the season at the prestigious home of racing - Monaco.
Piastri, still in his rookie season of F2 following his championship winning year in F3, looked right at home on the famous street circuit.
The PREMA racing driver ended with a ninth and two second-place finishes from the weekend's three races - taking his championship tally to 52 points.
It was his first appearance at Monaco in a Formula-tier vehicle.
Speaking at a press conference after his runner-up finish in the feature race, Piastri was chuffed with his double podiums.
“Two second places is a pretty solid day in Monaco,” Piastri said.
“We had a decent race this morning in the rain, then the feature race was really good.
“I struggled a bit in the beginning, but then once I found my feet I pushed and caught up to Robert (Shwartzman) reasonably quickly.
“So yeah, a pretty solid day.”
Asked how it felt sitting in second spot on the championship standings in his maiden F2 campaign, the Alpine Academy driver tried to downplay his performances.
“That's cool. There's still six weekends to go, so I'm not looking at that too much, but it's nice to be able to finish the job off here,” Piastri said.
Piastri capped off the stellar weekend with another appearance in the holy grail of motorsport racing - a formula 1 car.
The speed demon test drove at Britain's home of racing Silverstone during the week.
It was his second crack at an F1 car, after he tested for Alpine (formerly Renault) last October.
