The Blues wasted little time asserting themselves at Memorial Park, with Kendal Judd immediately taking charge in the shooting circle as the visitors stormed out to an early advantage to establish an 18–8 lead at quarter-time.
The Road worked hard to steady through Aida Hickey and Jorja Henery, who both found opportunities in attack and kept the scoreboard moving despite Numurkah’s pressure.
However, each time the home side threatened to build momentum, Numurkah responded with another scoring run to demonstrate the same ruthlessness that has characterised its recent run.
Judd was outstanding throughout the contest, finishing with a dominant 45-goal performance, while Emily Buzza provided strong support with 10 goals and Abby Commadeur added six.
The second term proved particularly damaging for Congupna, with Numurkah stretching the margin to 14 goals by half-time.
Hickey finished with 21 goals and Henery added 15 in an encouraging attacking display from the hosts but Numurkah’s depth and consistency across the court proved difficult to contain.
By the third quarter, the visitors had pushed the lead beyond 20 goals, with Judd continuing to dominate the circle and capitalise on repeated opportunities.
Even as rotations came late in the game, Numurkah maintained its intensity and finished strongly to close out a convincing 24-goal victory.
The result further cements Numurkah’s strong start to the season resurgence, as the Blues followed up a nightmarish start of three losses in the opening weeks to rally to three successive wins.
Reflecting on the victory, Blues player-coach Laura Ryan spoke of her delight at the efforts shown by her side, earmarking free-scoring Judd for praise.
“The first three losses in a row came across the three top teams and we took a lot out of those (games),” she said.
“To have three wins in a row against good teams and be playing quality netball against them over the four quarters has been promising.
“Kendal (Judd) is an amazing player and yesterday was a testament to her versatility, she normally wears that goal-shooter bib but yesterday we really had to adapt her role.
“She took on the feedback and direction, it was awesome to see - we really value her, she sets the tone for us with her energy and vibe.”
Elsewhere, Rumbalara produced one of the performances of the round with a dominant 63–23 win over Finley, while Tongala overwhelmed Cobram 65–27.
Mulwala also continued its strong form with a commanding 70–31 victory against Echuca United, and Moama secured a solid 45–34 win over Deniliquin Rams.
From the outset, Rumbalara looked in control as Felicity Geisler and Ellie Morgan immediately found rhythm in the shooting circle, helping the visitors establish an early buffer on the road in New South Wales.
The hosts remained competitive in patches through Hannah Savle and Hayley Denny but Rumba’s ability to generate repeat scoring opportunities proved too much for the Cats to contain.
Despite Savle finishing with 16 goals and Denny adding seven, Finley struggled to maintain possession long enough to build momentum.
Ellie Morgan finished with 34 goals in the standout 40-point win, while Geisler added 15 and Desmond Morgan contributed 11 in a well-rounded attacking effort to secure the 40-point victory.
The result reinforces Rumbalara’s growing momentum and sends another strong signal to the rest of the competition as it now sits just four points behind Murray League pacesetters Mulwala and Nathalia.
Elsewhere in round seven, Tongala produced one of the most dominant performances of the round, overwhelming Cobram 65–27 with a convincing four-quarter display.
Leaders Mulwala continued its strong season with a 70–31 victory over Echuca United, maintaining pressure at the top end of the ladder through another high-scoring performance.
Moama rounded out the winners with a solid 45–34 result against Deniliquin Rams.
