Pine Lodge advances to Cricket Shepparton D-grade final after classic semi-final win

Pine Lodge is through to the S J Perry Shield grand final after a two-run victory in Saturday's semi-final against Central Park-St Brendan's.

The Lodgers, who were the top team after the home and away season, won the toss at Lemnos and batted first, posting 8-151.

Shane Webber top-scored with 39 and Braydon Kearns made 31 to set up the competitive total.

Ashley Hooper starred with ball in hand taking 6-17 off eight, which included four maidens.

Peter Hogeboom and Adrian Crossley were the other wicket-takers for the Tigers.

Travis Beck (77 not out) and Tyron Cover (35 not out) added an unbeaten 91 for the fourth wicket to give the Tigers a sniff, but the duo couldn't get the job done as its team finished on 3-149.

Beck's knock lasted 109 minutes and 89 deliveries as he hit 10 fours in the near-match-winning performance.

Some economical bowling from Thomas Phillips (1-21 off eight) and Tom Robinson (1-16 off eight) helped Pine Lodge stay in the game and eventually help book its ticket to the final.

The clubs had to replay Saturday's match on Sunday as wet weather ruined the first encounter after 12.5 overs in the second innings, 7.1 overs less than what is needed for a game to be classified as completed.

Before play was suspended, the Redbacks were 3-51 in response to Euroa's 7-165.
