Representatives from Ambulance Victoria, Victoria Police and the Nagambie CFA gathered at Jacobson’s Outlook on Saturday, January 7 to promote the app — GoodSAM.
Trish Myers of Ambulance Victoria said it could be used to seek help if there was an accident, or someone needed CPR at home, a club, workplace, school, local business, in the street, or anywhere else.
“The three services would like their members all to learn CPR in case of emergencies,” Ms Myers said.
“And (we would like) the general public to be aware that they can support this program to help a person in need, if they are willing to, by becoming a responder and having the new GoodSam app on their phone for such an emergency.
“Together we can save lives and be summer smart.”
The app has settings that volunteer GoodSAM responders can use in an emergency.
An experienced Ambulance Victoria paramedic will contact the responder after they accept any GoodSAM alert.
They will talk to the responder about their GoodSAM experience and answer any questions they may have.
