The huge publication will be flying off the stands in the week leading up to round one of the new season, which is approaching at a rate of knots.
But alas, Oddie digresses. Let us get to the real news of the week.
Good energies
There was a bit of numerology going on a couple of weeks ago during the Cricket Shepparton One Day finals.
At 1.11 pm the score in the A-grade clash between Numurkah and Katandra was 4-111.
Over in the B-grade contest between Kyabram and Katandra it was 6-111.
Good energies if you ask Oddie.
Not so good energies
Oddie was interested to read comments in sister paper the Kyabram Free Press this week following the Goulburn Valley Bush Bash League grand final from Hurley's Hotel Hounds coach Paul Newman.
He described the wicket as "terrible and embarrassing" and that "it really spoilt the game as a spectacle.”
Thoughts on the pitch aside, Oddie was buoyed to see such passion surrounding the fledgling GVBBL concept - surely only a positive sign for seasons to come.
Very nice energies
Finally, it would be remiss of Oddie not to give resident punter Aydin Payne a nod for his recent efforts in his Payney's Punt column.
Payne must have lost his mug in the office canteen because he has been in red hot form over the past couple of weeks, including tipping followers into a juicy best bet at Benalla on Tuesday which paid $10 and speculated at around twice that in early markets.
Watch out for his next column in tomorrow's News.
