The conditions were a complete reversal of Saturday's soaking, with Pine Lodge and Old Students playing in sweltering dry weather at the Lodgers’ home deck.
But while the weather on the two days were far in comparison, the result on Thursday night boiled over as the match ended on the final ball.
In what was a true Halloween thriller, Pine Lodge claimed an unbelievable five-wicket win as Jagjeevanjeet Singh (21 not out) hit the winning runs on the last ball of the innings.
Singh's team was chasing the Students’ 81, after his teammates Travis Spark (3-16) and Adam Pigatto (3-21) ripped through the away side's batsmen.
With his Students 4-25, Andrew Harlow made a quick-fire 26 off 16 deliveries to get his side a total to defend.
And it was nearly enough.
Mathew Newton-King grabbed 1-7 off his four overs as Old Students bowled tight lines to the chasing team.
But it all came undone in the end, as Pine Lodge clawed its way to 5-82 after 20 overs.
Elsewhere, Tatura was able to clinch a superb eight-wicket win against Murchison after sending in the visiting side to bat first at Tatura Park.
Murchison's Jim Collins scored a daring half-century at the top of the order and alongside opener Ben Poulton (18), put on 49 runs for the opening wicket.
Tatura's Wayne Giblin (1-25) struck the first blow and Poulton was on his way after his stumps ended up sprawled across the pitch.
But the scoring soon slowed when first-drop Callum Miller (14) strolled out to the crease, as the home side's bowling stocks began to wrestle back control of the match.
Lewis Walker (3-12) picked up the wicket of Collins, ending the opener's run-a-ball 58 knock, and soon after the Grasshoppers finished their 20 overs for 5-126.
It was a horror start to the run-case for Tatura, when Jacob Phillingham was knocked over for a golden duck by Poulton (1-19).
However, Giblin was the saviour for the home side as his starring 63 off 54 deliveries steered Tatura to 2-127 in 18.3 overs.
Meanwhile, a remarkable bowling effort from Katandra helped secure a dominant nine-wicket thumping of Shepparton United.
Katandra had four bowlers grab multiple wickets during its match at Princess Park, with Zane Thorne (2-3), Billy Holmes (2-8), Darcy Simpson (2-13) and Andrew Nicholls (2-25) the leading wicket=takers.
Those four - along with opening bowler Jaidyn Thorne (1-5) - had United's batsmen troubled from the get-go.
The home side struggled at 3-11, before being trounced for a miserly 82 off 17.2 overs.
Salim Khan (18) flew the flag in trying conditions and was the pick of the batsmen for United.
Katandra's James Griffin (42) and Jack Collins (38) combined for a special 84-run partnership as the Blues cruised to 1-89 off 12 overs.
Lastly, there was one D-grade Twenty20 encounter completed on Saturday, with Invergordon dismantling Waaia by nine wickets.
Invergordon's Billy Bagley (3-19) and Luke Riordan (2-7) did the damage with the ball as they helped dismiss the Bombers for 111.
Aaryn Cormican (43 not out) Tom Clurey (30 not out) were then destroyers with the bat, as Invergordon powered past Waaia's total one wicket down.
