In division one, fierce rivals Shepparton Park and Shepparton Golf played out a thrilling contest at the former's Kialla Reserve base.
Parker Bev Cahill claimed a draw for her rink and a one-shot win overall with the final bowl of the day, giving her team first blood for the season.
Her clash against Golf's Jo Crowe ended at 21-all as Park's Di Hands (23-18) and Golf's Kathy McPherson (24-20) contributed to the overall 13-64 to 3-63 scoreline.
In other results, Hill Top defeated Mooroopna Golf 14-66 to 2-58 and Seymour dominated Rushworth 15-79 to 1-54, while Kyabram had the bye.
● Kyabram was unstoppable in division two, racking up a 16-93 to 0-52 triumph against Stanhope.
The Power had rink wins from Terri Thomson, Jill Barrett and Marg Cox in the victory.
Shepparton Golf, Shepparton Park and Euroa were the other winners on the day, defeating Hill Top, Tatura and Avenel respectively.
● Division three action was tight across the board with every team winning at least one rink in round one.
Kyabram again managed the largest victory in a 14-81 to 2-50 success against Shepparton RSL.
Seymour took three points away from Murchison in Grasshopper country but could not win the overall board thanks to the home rink of Gloria Higgins (lead), Cindy Richter (second), Alan Tweddle (third) and Marg Tweddle, which won 34-12.
Euroa and Mooroopna Golf also reigned supreme in their first matches of the new campaign.
● Nagambie defeated Hill Top 16-91 to 0-47 in division four to start the season on fire.
Vicki Reid's rink was superb for the Lakers in a 38-12 win.
Merrigum, Rushworth, Shepparton Golf and Shepparton Park A also had plenty of reason to celebrate after respective triumphs.
● Colbinabbin sits atop the division five table after defeating Mooroopna Golf 14-53 to 0-29.
Barb Cheatley and Di Chandler were the winning skips.
Seymour, Katandra West and Avenel also claimed victory on the day, with Violet Town starting its season next week.
