While also winning a fierce ruck battle, Bradbury covered ground gracefully and racked up the ball, a complete display his team would not have won the grand final without.
But Bradbury’s thoughts were on his team and its ripping comeback win, which required the last three goals of the game.
“It’s unreal, I dunno, the boys just gave it all they had,” he said.
“We came away with it in the end, I don’t know how, but the boys just fought them off.
“Just stick to the structures, just keep going and just dig deep. Just bite on that mouth guard and keep going.”
Of Mitch McLean’s smother, rove, match-winning goal combo, Bradbury said it would go down in club history.
“Probably the best goal I’ve ever seen on a football field and considering the circumstances, it lifted the boys and probably got us over the line in the end,” he said.
The way the side embraced tackling intensity was particularly evident, the want for teammates to work for each other on show in a tight bunch of Lions.
“We work on that every Thursday night at training, we’ve got Jase Cole and Cliffo (Ben Clifton) there,” Bradbury said.
“They get us going.
“We’re all bloody good mates and we’ll celebrate good tonight I reckon.”
