Fothergill, a mainstay of the Shepparton greyhound racing scene for the past three decades, was awarded the inaugural Greyhound Racing Victoria Board Leadership award at the 2018-19 awards night at Melbourne’s Crown Casino on August 16.
The inaugural award celebrates her involvement at the local greyhound club and recognises her work in helping establish the club’s new community fund.
The fund was created to help assist those in the local community that are dealing with hardship and helping provide support opportunities for development.
GRV acting chair Peita Duncan congratulated Fothergill for her involvement and her innovative ideas in further improving the greyhound racing industry.
‘‘On behalf of the GRV Board, I congratulate Tracey on being the inaugural recipient of the GRV Board Leadership Award in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the Shepparton GRC and its local community,’’ Duncan said.
‘‘Tracey consistently comes up with innovative ideas to help promote our great sport and she is always willing to volunteer her time to better the industry.’’
Shepparton club manager Carl McGrath spoke highly of Fothergill, highlighting her respect, compassion and support to staff and the wider community.
‘‘Tracey is an extremely strong president,’’ he said.
‘‘She values every committee person and staff member and always displays great respect towards people.
‘‘It is her compassion, support and encouragement that makes her a special leader.
‘‘The Shepparton GRC is extremely lucky to have her.’’
