The Cats and Magpies are out of finals contention, but will give winning another crack at Mooroopna Recreation Reserve in round 18.
Mooroopna went down to Seymour by 27 points last time out, but coach Dale Osborne was pleased with the way his troops went about their work — and has been for the past month.
"I was happy with how we were able to finish the game off," Osborne said after the defeat.
"I was really proud of the character from the playing group.
"Although we haven’t got the wins, everyone is having a great time — there is a good feeling amongst the group.
"Our last four to five games have been really good, I feel we are playing strong football."
Kyle Gray, Jason Myrtle, Hudson Thomas and Nathan Basile were among the better performers for the Cats against the Lions.
For the Magpies, a 39-point defeat greeted the group upon the sounding of the final siren against Tatura last round.
Max Gleeson, Jett Trotter and Marcus Varley shone in the loss, with Trotter booting five goals for the second game in a row to take his season tally to 34 majors.
Last time these teams met it was the Magpies who claimed victory, winning by 61 points at Memorial Oval.
