A strong first half put them in the box seat for a comprehensive win, but the previously fifth-ranked Wombats were never going to pack it in without a fight, turning the game on its head with five goals to one in the third quarter to get within eight points at three-quarter-time.
But the reigning premier reminded its feisty opposition what it was capable of with five goals of its in the last quarter to put the game to bed, eventually winning 13.15 (93) to 9.8 (62).
Earlier, the sides each battled hard in the first quarter with the Redlegs grappling to a one-goal lead, before 4.5 to 0.2 in the second quarter put them right on the course of victory.
The win moved the Redlegs to 14-0 for the season, with just Nagambie (away) and Lancaster (away) to come after next weekend's bye in the quest for an unblemished home-and-away season.
For Lancaster, its gallant effort was costly, sliding out of the league's top six to end the round seventh, with a win to Stanhope and Undera's bye helping them jump over the Wombats.
Josh Wellington and Heath Barton each kicked three goals for the Redlegs while Tim Karolidis and Jai Utiger each found two, with Karolidis, Adam Serafini, Zach Brett and Eamon Reeves all named in the best.
For Lancaster, Besim Besim kept strong form going with Adam Vick, James Ross and Tom Davies all named in the best.
