Shepparton’s Vibert Reserve will host the best players from the over-35 competition that competes in Melbourne and the regional talent of the Bulls outfit.
Each year, players from the eight clubs in the Victoria Masters competition head out to a regional city to help support regional rugby and this year is Shepparton’s turn.
The Shepparton Bulls are set to help raise funds and awareness for The Haven, an organisation that offers assistance to vulnerable youth.
Victorian Masters Rugby president Brendon Matthews said everyone was looking forward to supporting the charity day.
‘‘If there is anything we can do to help, we will,’’ Matthews said.
‘‘The Bulls have always given back to the community and we support that, so we couldn’t be prouder to be involved.
‘‘We’re absolutely looking forward to the day and all the players’ families have jumped on board.
‘‘The points don’t matter, just a focus on fun and raising awareness for vulnerable youth.’’
The Bulls’ connection on the day runs even deeper, with former president and coach Kao Kautai set to be named captain alongside Maka Atu — another former Bulls player.
Prizes such as a holiday to Hawaii and a Bulls apparel package will be raffled off to help raise funds.
‘‘Hopefully we can get a really good crowd along to help raise funds and awareness for a good cause,’’ Shepparton Bulls coach Mark Stevens said.
‘‘We’re only a small club, but we want to help use sport and raise enough money as possible.’’
There will be three games taking place, with a Victoria Masters over-35s, an over-45s and the Shepparton Bulls’ match against Monash University.
The first game will start at 1pm.
