Greater Shepparton City Council needs to take a long overdue review of traffic management in front of Goulburn Valley Health in Graham St.
Much of the signage has been left over following the hospital building works that were finished some years ago. Despite minimal truck movements at the hospital, we have multiple two-pole truck signs remaining on either side of the road — one twisted, another without any sign at all.
The two 40km/h Roadwork Ahead signs have remained despite no apparent roadwork being undertaken for over two years. I still support prominent 40km/h speed limit signs given the large volume of hospital traffic and pedestrians of all ages exiting vehicles in Graham St, particularly in daylight hours.
Council has installed a pedestrian crossing in Graham St, an essential item of infrastructure in this busy area.
The lighting of this crossing for night-time use needs to be installed better. Two extremely bright LED lights have been installed on poles near the crossing. These two lights are not located directly over the crossing but are set at a 45-degree angle to the crossing.
The result is a bright light that not only lights the crossing but also shines a distracting beam into the eyes of drivers. These lights are as bright as a car headlight on a high beam. These lights need to be repositioned directly over the crossing to illuminate pedestrians and not interfere with the vision of drivers.
