In Shepparton United's brilliant 43-28 win against the Shepparton Swans, one of the youngest players on the court lit up the scene.
United's Sophie Garner was awarded the MVP medal in her side's victory, with the fresh-faced starlet playing a major role in win that elevated the side to premier and champions status.
The midcourter was influential in the win, with her ability to link up with teammates standing out on the big stage.
And when she was deployed into goal attack in the third term, she passed the ball on a platter to her captain Alice Clurey in goals.
All at the tender age of 15.
After winning her second premiership in two years, Garner spoke about her side's performance against a side that nearly defeated the Demons a fortnight ago.
“I thought we played really well today,” Garner said.
“It was a good feeling, but we were pretty scared playing Swans because they are such a quality team.
“We knew it was going to be hard, but the girls played really well.”
It was always going to be hard for United to end the season undefeated, but yesterday morning it certainly did not faze them.
Garner could not contain her excitement on becoming a premiership player in an undefeated season.
“Yeah it's an awesome effort and feeling and I'm super proud of the group,” she said.
United co-coach Jessie Barnes was full of praise for her young rising star.
“Phenomenal, she is such a patient player,” she said.
“And that's a really hard thing to teach in players.
“She's got such a cool head and level head for a 15-year-old.
“She just blitzed it today and I'm so proud of her and the group.”
