For a group of middle school students from the Benalla campus of the Wangaratta District Specialist School, a dream came true on May 10.
A school spokesperson said a group of 14 young students, along with six staff and volunteers, took the train from Benalla to Melbourne and had an experience that is still being talked about.
“The Hawthorn versus Melbourne game was closely fought up until the third quarter, and over 50,000 people gave it an amazing atmosphere that our students had not experienced before,” the spokesperson said.
“Such an experience would not have been possible without the support of the AFL with tickets to the game and V/Line for our train tickets.
“Our thanks to them for giving our young people a wonderful opportunity.”
