After years of searching, applying and being knocked back for jobs, all Miss Martin wanted was to begin her automotive technician’s apprenticeship.
When the job at Shepparton BMW came up, she finally had her chance to shine.
“I was trying for about seven years. I had gone to so many different places and I even had a couple of places try and talk me out of it,” she said.
“To be honest, when I first applied for this job, because of the big name brand I didn't think I'd have a chance but out of everyone, they gave me a chance.
“I am so beyond grateful, there’s no looking back now — it’s all up from here.”
Going into her second year of the apprenticeship, Miss Martin has her eyes on the prize.
In the long-run, she’d love to one day be the master technician at BMW.
She said her career aspirations were being fostered in a supportive environment by the mentorship of the technicians she works with.
“It has been just amazing here, we won’t know ourselves in the new building.”
