The professional workers from a private syndicate, who do not wish to be named, held one of the four division one winning entries nationally in Saturday's TattsLotto draw 3971. Each entry takes home a division one prize of $1 017 643.37
Sharing his joy with a Tatts official this afternoon, the syndicate leader recounted how the group discovered the life-changing news.
“There are five of us from work who throw $10 into a bank account every fortnight which we use to buy our entries every fortnight,” he said.
“We’ve been playing the same syndicate for about three years but we’ve never won anything like this.
“One of the girls in the syndicate checked the ticket on Saturday night and then called everyone to let us know," he said. Asked how he planned to enjoy his share of the syndicate win, the anonymous winner said he had not had a chance to fully contemplate the prize.
“I do know one thing - it certainly won’t go to waste. I’ll probably use it to pay off a few bills and then go from there,” he said.
The winning entry was purchased from Shepparton Plaza Lotto, High St, Shepparton.
Plaza Lotto owner Cathy Connor said she was thrilled her outlet had sold another division one winning entry.
She said it was the shop's seventh division one winning entry sold in the past 11 years, with the last one sold just before Christmas last year.
“It’s fantastic to hear the win has been shared amongst five regular players and locals to the area," Ms Connor said.
