A Celebration of Cultures was the theme which encompassed this year’s Education Week, highlighting diversity and difference.
St Mary’s College deputy principal Genevieve Gordon made a statement to The Telegraph on how education is celebrated in the school community:
St Mary’s College provides an outstanding education focused on the formation of the whole person that has the intellectual, practical and moral excellence of learners at its heart.
Students of St Mary’s are continually reminded that the opportunity to learn and obtain an education is a privilege that not everyone is afforded.
Our community values the dignity and worth of each student, which places the individual student at the heart of our work.
Education is celebrated daily at St Mary’s College, not only during Education Week, with students regularly identified and acknowledged for showing respect, excellence and/or integrity in a variety of scenarios.
A child is celebrated when they thrive at school because ultimately education provides opportunity.
Opportunity empowers individuals, allowing them to flourish, leading them to a fulfilled and purposeful life.
We aim to prepare graduates of St Mary’s College who will transform society and impact the world in a positive way by respecting diversity, promoting social justice and by simply showing kindness to others.
